We had the opportunity to travel to Austin, TX and share at the 2019 Black Student-Athlete Summit, hosted by the University of Texas at Austin. With over 400 attendees and thousands watching online, the event was full of great sessions, workshops, and most importantly, intentional connections.
Speakers included those in academia conducting research, practitioners who are in the field, and the athletes who are on the field. Our intention was to add to the conversation in a way that hadn’t been done before, and discuss a topic that many have experienced but few have addressed.
The Effects of Hypermasculinity In Sport
What is this concept exactly? And how does it impact and influence the way men behave? Take a look at the highlights from our presentation where we dive into this topic and how young men are trained through sport in under 10 minutes.

Zach Barnett also made his debut as a member of the Prime U team! Zach is a former student-athlete, athletics administrator, and corporate leader who joined us in December of 2018. Bringing a diverse perspective and skillset, we are ecstatic to have him as a team member, stay tuned to learn more about his journey from working with some of the top collegiate football coaches in the country at the University of Georgia to working with some of the top executives in the world at the Chick-Fil-A Corporate office.
We also took the opportunity to visit with our friends in Dallas, TX! Rebecca Feickert and Brian Reynolds of Trey Athletes, Reggie Jennings and Cameron Fenton of TCU Athletics, and Will Baggett of the College Football Playoff all came out to enjoy not only fellowship, but intentional conversations on the state of leadership development as it pertains to today’s up and coming leaders.
